A Sample Foreclosure Cleanup Business Plan Template

1. Industry Overview

Foreclosure cleanup business is a business that basically engage in the cleanup of foreclosure properties. Their service offerings include interior cleanup, yard cleanup, hauling of rubbish and debris, lock changing and other general cleanup of the home and yard.

A foreclosure property is a piece of real estate that a mortgage lender sells to pay off a defaulted mortgage loan. Every foreclosure culminates in a public auction where the lender sells the property and anybody can purchase the property.

Foreclosure cleanup business is niche business idea in the janitorial services industry and this is an industry that clean building interiors, the inner parts of transportation equipment (e.g. aircraft, railcars and ships) and windows. Industry activities include contract cleaning services for factories, retail outlets, shopping centers and malls, business and government offices, trains and airlines and house-cleaning services.

The Janitorial Services industry has grown over the five years to 2019. Demand for commercial cleaning services, the industry’s primary product segment, increased over the past five years, as rising corporate profit led to an increase in business cleaning expenditure.

Furthermore, strong revenue expansion has encouraged many sole proprietors and small-business owners to enter this industry because it has relatively few barriers to entry.

While increasing demand for industry services has led to price growth for residential and commercial cleaning contracts during this period, rising competition, driven by growth in the number of janitorial services companies, has dampened industry profit margins.by growth in the number of janitorial services companies, has dampened industry profit margins.

Nevertheless, over the five years to 2024, industry revenue is projected to increase. Over the next five years, a robust economy will lift demand for cleaning services from businesses and households.

The janitorial services industry is indeed a very large industry and pretty much thriving in all the parts of the world especially in developed countries such as United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and Italy et al.

Statistics has it that in the united states of America alone, there are about 870,916 licensed and registered janitorial services companies (foreclosure cleanup companies inclusive) and related businesses responsible for employing about 1,890,016 employees and the industry rakes in a whopping sum of $61 billion annually with an annual growth rate projected at 4.0 percent.

A recent report published by IBISWorld shows that in the coming five years revenue for the Janitorial Services industry to decrease at an average annual rate of 1.7 percent and total $40.6 billion. During this period, the Great Recession has hampered industry growth because it caused many businesses to curtail expansion plans, cut staff or even shutter operations.

As the number of companies declined, demand for janitorial services fell and significant priced-based competition for remaining contracts grew.

As a result, industry revenue declined 5.2 percent to total $41.8 billion in 2008 and 6.1 percent to total $38.3 billion in 2009. The downward trend has since reversed, but revenue is only expected to grow 1.5 percent in 2011 because the economy remains weak.

The commercial market is the primary driver of industry growth because most janitorial services are geared toward corporate buildings, municipalities and retail outlets.

In the commercial market, growth has been hampered by the retail, finance and real estate sectors, all of which were decimated by the Great Recession. Many finance and real estate firms were forced to consolidate operations or file for bankruptcy in the aftermath of the subprime mortgage crisis and real estate bubble collapse

Over and above, the foreclosure cleanup services business all over the world are still enjoying good patronage particularly if they are well positioned and if they know how to reach out to their target market (businesses, government and household et al).
